How to put the link on Market app from a web page

Hi there!

I’d like to tell about quite usefull thing you can do to drive more traffic to your Android Application published on the Android Market.

There is a special protocol on Android device - “market://” and it’s used to request Android Market for information. It’s great because you can place the link on your application from your website! When someone is reading your site via G1, he/she will be able to click the link and it would open Android Market showing search results with your app in it!

Create link to your Android App.

Lets look at the simple example.

market://search?q=pname:androiddevstudio.apps.games.the15puzzle

The only thing you need to do - put your own package name after “pname:” and this link will open Android Market search results with your application there! You can also customize search query to show something different :)

Such link will not work via computer’s browser.

Here are some examples:  The 15 Puzzle, Brain Twister

You have an extra “/” in the URL. It should be:

    market://search?q=pname:androiddevstudio.apps.games.the15puzzle

  6. Actually, it is more efficient to link to the app itself instead to the search results, saving the user one click. E.g:

    market://details?id=de.schildbach.oeffi
